Our club recently participated in the St Marys Veterans Day Parade in support of the Ohio 148th Infantry .
John Burd recently gave an update regarding the monument to be built in honor of the 148 Infantry. He was given a letter of approval to place a monument in Memorial Park. John presented a picture and explained details of the monument that will be a 6 foot tall statue of a WWII era soldier in the middle and a 7 foot black granite wall with 10 panels in a semi circle behind. John said he intends to have the complete history of the 148 Infantry placed on these panels. The crest of the 148 Infantry and the crest of the 37 Buckeye Division will be placed in the center. It looks like there is a good possibility this project could be done next summer. John explained some of the history of this unit and said the 148 is the second highest decorated unit in the history of the United States Army.
